A Place to Visit

Seville
Carmen

Seville is a wonderful city with plenty of marvellous scents, colours and a beautiful light. Everything in it awakes your senses. You can feel all kinds of great emotions walking along its streets.

I strongly recommend that you visit Seville in spring. Then the streets look amazing with all their orange trees in blossom. The mixture of this wonderful smell of flowers, the sight of the white flowers, the green leaves and the bright blue sky makes you feel in love with Nature.

There are several magnificent monuments you can visit: The Giralda, the Cathedral, the Reales Alcazares, several museums, palaces…You will surely enjoy yourself a lot visiting them. But perhaps what is the most magical is to wander through its traditional markets on Sunday mornings (antique market, pet market) or any day in Triana at dusk, or through the neighbourhood of Santa Cruz in the morning. You can enter its typical little pubs (“tabernas”), which are decorated with photos of famous bullfighters or even with stuffed bull heads, to drink some good wine or beer. There you can also eat “tapas”, which are varied and suit all tastes.

At night there is no greater pleasure than strolling along the river. There are plenty of live music pubs where you can enjoy flamenco, jazz or modern music. Seville also has theatres, several festivals a year and cultural events. You may have the chance to coincide with some of them when you visit the city.

I hope these tips can help you during your stay in Seville.

Comments about Cairo
Ernesto Herrero

I’m going to tell you a few things about a city I visited a year ago. Its name is Cairo, and it’s the capital of Egypt. Cairo is placed in the north of Egypt, it occupies an enormous area along the Nile’s riverside. The sandy desert begins just where the city ends and it’s always present in the dusty atmosphere, which, mixed with pollution, creates the most suffocating and unbreathable air you can imagine. Cairo is the most populated city in Africa and one of the most populated areas in the world.

We could expect Cairo to be a very ancient city, but it’s not so. The city was founded in the tenth century, during the crusaders wars. Since then its history has always been violent and troubled until the end of the wars between Arabs and Israelites.

The city of Cairo has a lot of amazing things to see but it’s eclipsed by the glory of the ancient ruins placed in the nearby desert. If you have a few days in Cairo you’ll have to organise yourself. It is not recommended for children because of the pollution and the chaos of the city traffic. But young people can cheaply hire a “taxy” and move around the city and the outskirts where the most interesting things are. And if you have the means, you can enjoy a luxurious and comfortable four star tourist complex in the Gizah area near the Pyramids.
